I heard that shame is loves cry for acceptance
Yet when it lands we run and hide
To risk being seen and rejected overrules the desire for the opposite
To feel it is to be human
To come through to bare all is love
Gideon was called out of the wine press – his shame space – to become an army commander
The woman at the well was called out of her agony and shameful humiliation to become the first missionary
Saul was called out of his rage and shame filled murderous ways to become Paul, one of the most famous authors who ever lived, one who truly understood redemption
Accepted fully by the One, each were called out, chosen, from their shame to positions and missions that required acceptance and love to be rushing through their veins
And so it is true for me
I am called out of my own fear, shame, humiliation, fear, anger and confusion
Saying yes to the voice that pierces my darkness
Taking the hand of the one who always reaches
Finding acceptance again and again to the ultimate experience of belonging
